- 3 tablespoons vegetable shortening, chilled
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled, cut into ¼ inch pieces
- 4-5 tablespoons ice water
For the Pecan Filling:
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into 1 inch pieces
- 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon bourbon (optional)
- 2 cups pecans, toasted (see note below)
