How to make Easy Homemade Dinner Rolls
Step 1: Place the warm water, yeast, and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer. Mix with the dough hook until blended, then allow the mixture to stand for at least 5 minutes.
Step 2: To the bowl, add a cup of flour, salt, whole milk, and melted butter. Beat for another 2 minutes.
Step 3: Add another cup of flour and beat for additional 2 minutes on high speed until the dough starts to form a ball. You can add an extra 1/4 cup of flour as needed if the dough turned out very sticky.
Step 4: On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough using the heel of your hand for about 2 minutes. Then, transfer the dough to a greased bowl. Tent with a towel and leave it for about 30 minutes in a dark, warm place until the dough has doubled in size.
Step 5: Using cooking spray or butter, grease an 8-inch round pan.
Step 6: Into 12 pieces, divide the dough, then roll each into a ball. In the greased pan, arrange the balls. Tent the pan with a towel and leave it for 30 minutes in a dark, warm place.
Step 7: Meanwhile, prepare the oven. Preheat it to 375 degrees F.
Step 8: After 30 minutes, uncover the rolls and place the pan in the preheated oven. Bake the rolls fr about 20 to 25 minutes or until cooked through and golden brown.
Step 9: When done, take the rolls from the oven, then brush them with more melted butter and quickly sprinkle them with sea salt (optional). Enjoy these homemade dinner rolls warm.
Notes:
You can prep these rolls ahead. Simply follow the instructions until the (unbaked) rolls are put in the prepared baking pan. With plastic wrap, tightly cover the pan, then freeze. Take the rolls from the freezer when ready to serve and let them sit in the fridge overnight. Before baking, bring the rolls to room temperature to rise.
